Paneer tikka is an Indian appetizer. It is a dish which basically includes caramalized grilling of paneer, onions and capsicums. Paneer, Capsicum and onions are first marinated in a mixture of hung curd and spices and then grilled.
This recipe is perfect for someone who loves paneer and grilled food. Thin slices of paneer marinated in a rich yellow delicious marinade and cooked on the gas stove but with all that tandoori texture! I have included a hack to cook tandoor like paneer tikkas on your basic kithen stove and it is so damn easy.
So below is the step by step paneer tikka recipe for soft and delicious paneer tikka.
Ingredients to be used:
- 8-10 cubes of paneer
- 1 capsicum
- 1 onion
- 1 cup hung curd/yoghurt
- Black salt
- Red chilli powder
- Coriander powder
- Amchur powder
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- Garam masala
- Ginger garlic paste
- Mustard oil
- grill pan/tawa
Remove the seeds of the capsicum and dice it into small cubes.
Peel the onions, divide each into 4 parts and cut it into petals.
Now in a bowl, take hung curd ,add coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt as per taste, garam masala, ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp lemon juice, besan and mix it well.
Add 1 tsp of mustard oil and mix again.
Now add cubes of paneer , diced capsicum and petals of onion so as to coat the marination properly over them.
Put these veggies into skewers one by one.
Heat a grilling pan and grease it with ghee.
Put the skewers on the pan and roast them until they are caramlized softly.
You can also grill the veggies ,without using skewers , on a grilling pan or tawa.
Grease some butter and serve with green chutney.
Tips to be kept in mind:
- Use fresh paneer and refrigerate it for few hours.
- Use hung curd so as to coat the marination over veggies properly.
- Don’t overcook the paneer and veggies otherwise they will become hard to eat.
- Marination time should be 10-20 minutes because the more you marinate, more it will taste better.
- You can skip the skewers.
